Visa Advice Hub publishes practical guides for migrant workers and expats — people navigating visa, labour, banking, and financial systems, often in a second or third language. This page explains how we research, write, and maintain every guide on this site.

Our Publishing Standard

Every article is built around one question: if a worker needed to act on this information today, would it be accurate, complete, and clear enough to help them?

We do not publish claims we cannot source to an official document, government portal, or verified service provider. Opinion, speculation, and unverifiable claims are not presented as fact.

Source Hierarchy

We research and verify information using the following priority order:

  1. Primary official sources — UAE federal legislation (via the Official Gazette and u.ae), MOHRE official communications, ICP/GDRFA official portals, Central Bank of UAE, Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, Dubai Courts, and equivalent government portals for other countries covered.
  2. Regulatory and agency publications — official press releases, published circulars, and confirmed policy updates from government agencies.
  3. Service provider official pages — bank websites, money transfer service rate pages, insurance provider terms — for fees, rates, and procedures.
  4. Legal text with citations — where a rule is referenced, the specific law number, decree number, and article number are cited. If we reference a rule, we cite the rule.

We do not use secondary summaries, third-party legal blogs, or unverified forum posts as factual sources.

How We Handle Figures That Change

Fines, fees, exchange rates, and processing times change regularly. We do not present a specific number as permanent truth when it is subject to change.

Where an exact figure applies as a fixed rule (for example, the AED 50 per day overstay fine or a specific calculation formula set in law), we cite the source and its effective date. Where figures change frequently, we explain how readers can verify the current figure directly — rather than printing a number that could be outdated within weeks.

AI-Assisted Production

Visa Advice Hub uses AI-assisted tools in the drafting process. This does not change our editorial standard.

Every published article is reviewed against the following checklist before going live:

  • Every legal or procedural claim is traceable to a specific official source.
  • Contact numbers, portal URLs, and process steps have been verified against current official pages.
  • The guide answers the question a real reader would bring — not a generic summary of publicly available text.
  • Language is plain English. No unnecessary jargon. No vague filler sentences.
  • The appropriate disclaimer is present and accurate for the topic covered.
  • Internal links connect to genuinely related articles.

AI-generated content that is generic, unverifiable, or adds no reader value is not published.

Article Update Policy

We update articles when:

  • A law, decree, or official rule changes.
  • A contact number, portal URL, or process step is modified.
  • A reader reports an error that we verify.
  • An article is identified as significantly outdated during internal review.

Each article displays a “Last updated” date. This reflects when the article was last reviewed and substantively revised — not only when it was first published.

What We Do Not Publish

  • Unverifiable legal claims presented as definitive answers
  • Speculation about how an immigration officer, bank, or employer will behave in a specific individual case
  • Fixed exchange rates, fixed transfer fees, or fixed processing times where these change frequently
  • Content whose only purpose is to rank in search engines without adding practical reader value
  • Confident legal or financial conclusions where the outcome genuinely depends on individual facts

Scope Limits

Visa Advice Hub provides general information only. We do not provide legal advice, immigration consultancy, financial advice, or insurance advice. Every article that touches these areas carries an explicit disclaimer directing readers to verify current rules with official sources and consult a qualified professional for their specific situation.

How to Report an Error

If you find information on this site that is incorrect, outdated, or misleading, please contact us. Include the article URL and the specific information you believe is wrong. If you have an official source that contradicts what we have written, please include it — it helps us verify and correct faster.

We take corrections seriously. Verified errors are corrected and the article’s “Last updated” date is revised.
